Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Honour

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The finalists were announced live on a popular morning radio program.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.

The show will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her international debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

His success continued - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, shattering the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm deeply humbled to be nominated for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
