The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
