Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
