NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and after recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games was the amount of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this weekend.

But it proved good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, we said on a program that Denver could be this season's dark horses. They finished last season well then did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

New tight end their tight end has excelled big while recent running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that the Broncos are a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in positive situations.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws over the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

When you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the field downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a championship and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a good place to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win a game.

Since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.

It depends upon which form Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
