"We will make the most of spending the festive season in Australia. Additionally, it's a new experience for us abroad during the festive period."

A teacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, there's always golf to turn to," she added.
