The final installment of the celebrity edition of The Traitors was uploaded in error by international broadcasters before its planned UK airing on Thursday, as confirmed official sources.

Reports indicate that the final was watched by a few hundred subscribers of the streaming service Crave in Canada; these individuals could watch it for a short period before it was removed.

This episode being uploaded was not a mistake by the original broadcaster, and a spokesperson for the company urged those who think they have discovered the result of the show to "avoid sharing any reveals".

"We kindly ask those who believes they have uncovered the ending of The Celebrity Traitors to hold whatever they believe they know to themselves," the statement said.

"Please avoid posting potential spoilers so that the vast audience who have been faithfully following every development of the series can experience the finale this night."

This celebrity version is currently the most-watched TV program of the year, with an average of 12.6 million viewers over the initial installments.

Viewers of the show have been waiting to see whether traitors the traitors will secure the £100,000 prize for a good cause or whether loyal contestants the faithful contestants will be triumphant.

He said they will be settling in to watch the finale this evening as it airs, with all of his family and "some snacks".

Thursday night's final episode is lengthened to 70 minutes on BBC One, with an extended edition of the companion show scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two following the final.

Host the host will be accompanied by the contestants and Claudia Winkleman as they respond to the show's outcome.
