A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a range of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The track showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The song is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
