Both Deceased Students Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Manhunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences publicly, stating: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man detained in a search at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official told the news agency.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel recovered a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the individual was detained, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, friends, and fellow students and lament the passing of his potential.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the nation’s seventh-oldest college with about 7,300 undergraduate and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in the current year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
